Description
2023 Mâcon-Villages “Le Val Lamartin”
by Vins Mâcon is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. Aromas of citrus zest and ripe peach, underpinned by a subtle mineral edge. Hand-harvested grapes undergo pneumatic pressing before a temperature-controlled fermentation at around 18–20°C, preserving delicate aromatics. Malolactic fermentation softens the wine’s edges, and it is then aged briefly in stainless steel vats to maintain its fresh, clean profile. On the palate, it’s dry and refreshing, with a satisfying balance between tangy acidity and a gentle fruitiness that lingers on the finish. Delicious as an apéritif, or pair it with seafood (think fish, crustaceans) and light poultry dishes. Also, a wonderful match for goat cheeses, veal stew, or classic French andouillettes, a specialty of Lyon. Vins Mâcon refers broadly to the producers within the Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy, known for crafting approachable, mineral-driven white wines primarily from Chardonnay. The region is home to a mix of cooperative cellars and small, family-run domaines, all contributing to the reputation of Mâcon wines as fresh, vibrant expressions of Burgundy’s southern charm.
